So that's big. But the cost is not. Hitachi's Deskstar 7K1000 will go on sale in the first quarter of 2007 for $399.
I would have thought that it would have cost a whole lot more than that.

These would be awesome for a HTPC setup!! I could rip my dvds at full dvd quality straight to the hard drive - figure 8gb each, that would be...hmmm only 125...hrmm...well cutting out the extras would help ;)

they must be thinking of compressing them to get 500 on one drive :) I like full quality baby!!

Mike

maybe i will ask the 2007 Santa for one of these.

also running virtual CD/DVD's and also video editing will do that, that and the fact that RIP every cd I buy, adds up over 8 years LOL

9ish years ago I had a CD case with little over 400 cds in it stolen out of my car, the one and only night I left them in the car too (I was tired) , never again. Originals in the house, copy for the car, MP3 on the hard drive.

I have it. I have a raptor that never gets filled over 50% and a 160GB Hitachi that has yet to crack above 30%

I do what a lot of users don't. Delete **** I don't need anymore.

1TB HD?! Crazy!!!! But, I'd have to admit that I would fill it up in short order as well. Strange how more storage = more crap to download and fill that space, even though you will probably only use 1/2 (if that) of the data :P

i know it's strange to ask, but how noisy is it? I heard that the Seagate 7200.10 750 GB drive is very noisy, and i want a dead silent PC.
