Dell Introduces Enhanced Touch-Screen Monitor

New 15-Inch monitor to delivers value and reliability for $529.
NEW YORK --(Business Wire)-- Jan. 15, 2007 A reliable, easy-to-use Dell (NASDAQ: DELL) touch-screen monitor priced at $529 was unveiled here today at the National Retail Federation trade show.

The Dell E157FPT touch-screen monitor, a 15-inch flat panel, is ideal for standards-based point-of-sale terminals and as a cost-effective touch-screen option for a variety of industries.

Featuring surface acoustic wave technology for precise performance with outstanding clarity, the monitor delivers a highly competitive combination of price, durability and reliability and includes an option for an attachable magnetic stripe reader that is easy to remove for servicing. The monitor also complies with the RoHS Directive, which restricts the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.

Touch screens can reduce errors and improve productivity by replacing function keys and memorized key strokes. Retailers can easily integrate the new monitor into Dell's standards-based POS solutions to help reduce training and transaction times. The Dell E157FPT is also suited for a variety of retail and hospitality applications including ATMs, store self check-out terminals, airport and hotel check-in and bridal registry as well as manufacturing and distribution operations.

"By incorporating customer feedback and leveraging Dell's position as the leading supplier worldwide of flat panel displays, we designed the touch-screen monitor to provide the best overall value," said Vincent Vargas, senior manager of Dell's Retail and Digital Signage Center of Competence.

The Dell E157FPT, available in February is priced at $529, or $589 with an optional attachable magnetic stripe reader. Dell offers the monitor as a separate peripheral or bundled with a Dell system. Both options come standard with a three-year limited warranty(1). For more information on Dell's retail business, visit http://www.dell.com/retail.
