CompUSA "Midnight Madness'' Events Offer Windows Vista Experience and Great Deals on Popular Technology

CompUSA Opens Doors at 10 p.m. on January 29 to Give Consumers Jump-Start on Spectacular Savings Before Midnight Sale of Windows Vista
DALLAS --(Business Wire)-- Jan. 25, 2007 CompUSA Inc. today announced it will hold Midnight Madness events on the eve of Microsoft's Windows Vista launch to provide consumers with deeply discounted products geared to enhance the Windows Vista experience. CompUSA will open its doors on January 29 from 10:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m. on January 30 and start selling Windows Vista and Microsoft Office 2007 and PCs running the new operating system.

At the Midnight Madness events, CompUSA will showcase Windows Vista through live demonstrations and offer great savings on a range of products that include computers, LCD flat-panel screens, notebooks, printers, cameras, phones, along with gaming and music products. The Midnight Madness events will take place in all CompUSA locations except for stores in New Jersey, which will open at 8:00 a.m., and Puerto Rico, which will open at 5:00 a.m., on January 30.

"CompUSA's Midnight Madness events provide a great opportunity for consumers to see first-hand the benefits of Windows Vista and obtain big savings on technology products that enhance the Windows Vista experience," said Brian Woods, executive vice president of merchandising for CompUSA. "Our goal is to provide consumers with everything they need from products to technical services to ensure their transition to a new operating system is a great experience."

Prior to the 12:01 a.m. sale of Windows Vista and Microsoft Office 2007, consumers will have the opportunity to start shopping at 10:00 p.m. and take advantage of great savings on popular electronics. Highlights of the sale products, after instant savings and rebate offers, include:

In addition to purchasing the new software at midnight, consumers can also take advantage of additional products that will go on sale at this time. Highlights of the sale products, after instant savings and rebate offers, include:

The great offers from CompUSA extend much further than sales on products. For more than two decades, CompUSA has been a leader in Microsoft software launches and once again is differentiating itself by also giving consumers expert advice and technical services to seamlessly complete the technology upgrade. Current Windows Vista related service and technology offers include:

-- Free CompUSA Windows Vista compatibility evaluation and consultation to determine if a computer is Windows Vista ready. The evaluation is available at all 229 CompUSA stores throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. A qualified CompUSA TechPro technician conducts the evaluation, which takes approximately five minutes. Customers can visit the CompUSA TechPro Service Center during store hours.

-- CompUSA's Windows Vista Experience Guarantee ensures customers will enjoy the overall performance and features of Windows Vista or Microsoft Office 2007 or CompUSA will refund the purchase and reinstall the original operating system. It is available to customers who receive a free Windows Vista compatibility evaluation and purchase Windows Vista or Microsoft Office 2007 together with installation from one of CompUSA's 229 stores. CompUSA TechPros will provide professional upgrades plus installation giving customers the peace-of-mind of receiving a guaranteed experience. Beginning January 30, software installations will be available for $49.99 for in-store and $149.99 for in-home installations. Some upgrades may be required to properly install Windows Vista or Microsoft Office 2007.

-- CompUSA Trade-Up Notebook Program enables consumers to trade-in and recycle their old notebook computers. Consumers can visit participating CompUSA stores with their old notebook computer, determine its current value, and trade it in towards the purchase of a new computer. The notebook's value is based on the condition, specifications, and age and will be assessed by a web-based tool provided by a certified technology recycling company. The notebook must be in working condition. CompUSA will give the customer the value as a store credit towards the purchase of a new computer with Windows Vista. Customers must complete the trade-in and new purchase on the same day.

-- CompUSA's TechProLive agents will be available to provide support for Windows Vista and Microsoft Office 2007 and basic computer technical support. Beginning January 30, 2007 through March 31, 2007, customers can obtain 30 days of unlimited technical support for only $29.99.

Customers can visit a CompUSA store or compusa.com for additional details. Sale products are available while quantities last and pricing may vary in Connecticut, Rhode Island and Puerto Rico. Free, after-rebate, offers are not available in Michigan.

CompUSA Inc., a Dallas-based company, is one of the nation's leading retailers and business resellers of technology products and services. CompUSA currently operates 229 locations in 90 major metropolitan markets across the United States and Puerto Rico. Yeah, you know that they waited until the right moment - during their slow sales season - to announce this....Hopefully, someone here can take advantage....

there are some good deals there, but I can't see going out to CompUSA in the middle of the night to stand inline with a crowd just to get items with multiple rebates.
I know MS is making a big push on vista, and a lot of stores hope to grab a few more sales with tie in promotions.
but I'm not in a hurry to get it.
New Intel and AMD chip releases (coming soon!) mean more to me

Oh my! This is dajavue all over again of Black Friday at CompUSA!

I agree with T-Shrit, forget the crowds and rebates. The only difference here is that it's not in the wee hours of the morning, but the latest hours of the night. Time better spent getting some zzzzzzZZZZZZZ.

Yeah I'm so glad I'm done and out of retail now...Real IT Work not Geek Squad or Fire Dog is the shiznit! :)

I have Vista Ultimate and all the crap they'll be selling for discounted prices is usually older, dodgy crap that has been stowed in the back for a while - kind of like bait and switch technology! :)
