Zalman CNPS 9700 and Enermax Chkra Case

Post by GamingDaemon »

Hi,

The parts for my new Badaxe2/E6600/8800GTX rig are coming today. One of the things I was thinking about was using the big fan on the side of this case to expel the air from the Zalman cooler.

Is this possible? Can I position the fan on the E6600 so it aims its aire at the side fan?

I have never used anything but the stock HSF before, so I am new to this. Thanks in advance...

some case have a side fan/intake port in them already like this one

EDIT:

well if I would pay attention to the title... that setup you would point the flow towards the back. so a good intake fan on the front and a exhaust fan in the rear you should be fine.

This is the case I am getting:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6811124115

Here's the cooler:

As you can see, the case has a huge 25cm fan on the side that can send air in, or pull air out. My only question is, can I put the fan on my E6600 processor 90 degrees from normal, that is 90 degrees from front to back, so the hot air from the processor is sent out of the case through the huge fan at the side?

ok, on the same page now.

may be, but due to the way the cooler is made, Looks like it has to go out the back.

your best bet wold be mounted like this It may get a little close to the ram if you turn it.

if your thinking of turn it so the fans blow the same way then no, due to the way its made.

I see, ok. Nice pic and explanation. It's hard to see what it's going to be like until you have the parts in your hands. Thanks!

Well, I jsut finished putting it all together, and the monster side fan doesn't work. I've tried all of the power cables, but nothing will make it go.

Any ideas? I already added a 120mm fan in the rear and was planning on adding a fan in the front too. Should I return the case or jsut go with it?
