D975XBX2 - AHCI working on both Intel Matrix and Marvell ?

Post by BlueMagic »

Does anyone have AHCI working on both the Intel Matrix and Marvell controller at the sametime ?

I can get AHCI to work on the Intel Matrix controller but I can't get AHCI
to work on the Marvell controller.

I've been communicating with Intel Email Support at
http://supportmail.intel.com/scripts-em ... ,2386,2578
for weeks trying to explain to them that the Marvell controller does not
support AHCI, and getting nowhere.

Apoptosis : Can you contact Technical Marketing Engineer at Intel Corporation ?

I think this is a known issuse and will help others.

Here are the possibilities with the D975XDX2 motherboard :
Intel Matrix - IDE and Marvell - IDE
Intel Matrix - Raid and Marvell - Raid
Intel Matrix - AHCI and Marvell - can no longer be used.

I have also wondered how to go about doing this, as you will note the raid/ahci driver disks one for Intel the other for the Marvell are to be installed with the os install. There lies the rub I believe, you are only asked for and I believe are only given the one chance to install the raid driver as soon as you do the OS continues on it's merry way without offering other options iirc. Not a very thought out plan.

I was thinking that it may be possible to slipstream both into the OS and then install. But would there be conflicts? I don't know.
