Run as a service

Post by Darkstar »

Does anyone know if folding can be installed as a service or how to do it on a W$ box? I have a system that a lot of people use so its usually on and i wanted to run folding on it. I tried adding the exe to the startup but it drops the team number for some reason. I thought i read that there was an option to run at startup but i did not see anything in the GUI

Thanks!

If you get the console version it has a option to set it as a service on the next reboot.

Then to monitor it get fahmon to watch the progress.

I just add it to my startup menu. Mine does not get rid of the team number - wait let me look...nope still there.

That is for the GUI client

If you ahve it in the default directory make sure the shortcut says this...

"C:\Program Files\Folding@Home\winFAH.exe"

for the file to open

Thanks ken, that looks simple enough.

Mike when you added it to the start menu did you log off and log on as a different user to check it?

Oh sorry, I dont use the User logon crap ;)

If you break into my house and want to steal all my legit reviews secrets, so be it

I figure if it is in my house everyone should have the same access - I have a seperate computer for my step daughter ;) She NEVER is allowed to use mine...the wife does though ( scares me every time too )

Mike

So no I do not logon to a diffferent user :) I am always admin which doesnt mean a whole hell of a lot in windows.

if anyone wants the installer PM me. it installs it as a service, no console pops up or anything, so you have to track it with FAHmon or EMIII
