temps, voltage, and loadline calibration

Post by XstollieX »

I have a question. I have a q6600 on a asus maximus formula stable at 3.2. I had it stable at 3.2 with a vcore @ 1.4625v, under prime95 the temps would be sitting at 42-43 degrees celcius. I enabled loadline calibration and was able to drop my vcore to 1.3812 stable for 10 hours of prime but my temps where at 44-45. What would the better set-up be? I know the temps are still fine and the voltage is safe, but I have found articles saying llc is fine and some say it is bad. ](*,)
Thanks

That's actually pretty good, I have my Q6600 under water and it runs at 36c @ 3.2 with 1.3v.

If you could clarify "I have found articles saying llc is fine and some say it is bad" a little maybe we could help some.

here is the review i found from anandtech about llc being better to be disabled.

http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/in ... i=3184&p=6

with the llc enabled i set my vcore to 1.3812 and cpuz shows it at 1.368
to get that same voltage under load w/o llc i set the vcore at 1.4625 both are stable for 10+ hours of prime ](*,)

Personally I'd just want the lower temps on the chip.

Seems strange that to get those the higher CPU voltage is needed.

Loadline calibration / Voltage Damper should be disabled for the newer 45nm chips as they use less voltage to start with.

CPU's are designed to have their voltage fluctuate, but having said that, I've it enabled on my (65nm) E6850.

It shouldn't really matter, as the CPU should be @ 100% all the time (folding for team LR) :finga:
