Dell M109S On-The-Go LED-based - Ultra-Portable Projector: Cost Breakdown Report Available from Insight Media
Insight Media is pleased to announce the release of the Dell M109S On-The-Go LED based Ultra-Portable Projector Cost Breakdown Report. The report is published by Technology Cost Consulting.

Ultra-Portable projectors--small-size projectors powered by high-brightness (HB) LED illumination sources--are an emerging part of the projection industry. While this class of projectors holds great sales promise in both professional and consumer settings, historically these projectors have low light output and are fairly high priced.

Though the price point for LED pocket projectors remains about the same, the light output has changed for the better and Dell has added the smallest LED-based ultra-portable projector to their line-up. The M109S On-The-Go projector weighs in at less than 13 ounces (363g) and fits in the palm of a hand. The SVGA DLP chip based projector uses LEDs to put out 50 ANSI lumens. With a starting price of just under $500 (at the time of this report the price was discounted to $449) the price is 20% - 30% below the next up lamp-based projector. Based on this cost breakdown, the manufacturing cost is over 50% of the current retail price.

The Dell M109S Cost Breakdown Report provides critical information regarding the design and production cost of this ultra-portable projector. For "those who need to know," this report will provide detailed pictures of the projector components and a thorough cost analysis of components, tooling, labor, and overhead costs. The cost analysis is based on a production rate of 100,000 units per year manufactured in China.
