D915GUX Realtek Audio: Recording Problems on Windows Vista/7

I'm currently using the Intel D915GUX Motherboard with Windows 7 upgraded from XP.

Installing the Realtek HD Audio drivers when through smoothly, getting my sound and microphone working.
However, when I try to record sound directly from the soundboard (which is something I do a lot with XP), it fails. The only possible recording way available is through the microphone.

When I try to open the Realtek Sound Manager, it give me the following error (or warning):



When I continue, it only shows the Audio I/O tab as shown below:


I already downloaded the WinVista/7 driver, however it's always the same problem.

So I was wondering if it's possible to fix this issue, and get it working as it should.
If not, is it possible to use XP Mode to do it? Or do I have to downgrade to XP or buy another sound card?

are you using front panel or rear I/O shield headers?

i assume what you are trying to do is record something that windows is playing (youtube, video rip)?

I just use a 3.5mm cable going from output to input

I updated the driver, and no more warning message.

However, I still can't record from the sound card.
If there isn't any way to fix this problem, I'll probably find a cable and do as skier said.
But if there's any suggestions, please post them.

By the way, I'm using the rear audio. My case doesn't have any front panel audio.

What are you trying to record exactly? If it's like skier said, Youtube, you can download software that will download the video, then you can convert it to a MP3 file if you want.

Please excuse me for the late reply.

I updated the driver for the audio, and I still couldn't record from the sound card.

I decided to connect the line in with the speaker out, and recording works!

Now there's only one thing, I can't increase the volume of the mic. And the microphone boost is available, but the slider just remain in one spot; it cannot move at all.

I will try to update the driver again, and I post the outcomes.
