Ebay

Awhile back I bought a arm rest for my wife's car from a guy on Ebay with like 10,000 positive feedback. The description said it was a factory replacement part.....so coupled with all the feedback I went ahead and paid the $100 for it. What showed up was nothing near what was described or pictured. The replacement piece was made entirely of plastic and instead of a cloth cover was covered in some nylon fabric.
I tried working it out with the guy, to no avail, so I left him negative feedback on it. He in turn left me negative feedback and even said it was only for mwe leaving him negative feedback. I fought with EBay for a couple of months on that one before they finally removed it.
I would never recommend EBay for anything of real value.

When my Great Grandmother passed away awhile back I got stuck cleaning out her garage. As I was sorting through old family pictures and odds and ends I cam across some old Navy recruiting posters. I didn't think much about it, but kept them because they looked really neat (I was like 13-14 at the time). Anyway, I took them out of their frames and on the back were descriptions of what they were. .... They were all pictures taken off the decks of brand new battleships...The Arizona, Oklahoma, Nevada, and California. I still have them somewhere, but they are pretty incredible pictures.... a little ratty around the edges but still in pretty good shape.
Looking back, a lot of the "junk" I threw out would probably be worth some cash nowadays. Old magaizines and newspapers, etc.

Yeah the new Nano's can be ordered with engraving on them. I'm not sure about the older iPOD versions. I bought one ofr my wife as a present and it is nice because it is personalized.

i bought a p4c800e-d mobo on ebay and it seemed good.
it came a little dusty and was supposed to be "like new in retail box"

it ran good at stock but when i went to vmod it i noticed it had been vmodded before and had been removed.
never mentioned that

the board never would oc very well for some reason and after a long time of not knowing wtf was wrong with what part as it was randomness i decided to monitor my vdimm.

well upon boot it was fine, sometimes it was fine for a while, then out of nowhere boom!! it drops to under 2 volts

it spikes back to normal.

so i saw it do this a few times and realized why i couldnt get a very good overclock and why it would just randomly reboot sometimes for no apparant reason.

the vmod they had done and removed damaged the circuitry that reads the voltage level so the board does all kinds of crap. needless to say i replaced the board and every other thing i had suspected is fine.

i wont ever buy a electronic component off of ebay again like that.
used on ebay means its junk.
if someone is making a product and selling it may be different, but most people on ebay represent things in the best possible light and fail to include the things wrong.
it wasnt until he was long gone with my money for a like new board that i had realized the issue with this board.

Yep, just a den of con-artists on Ebay (no offense meant to those who are members of this forum who do Ebay because I can trust them, for the most part), thus a sucker born everyday. Thank God it was my friend who learned the lesson and not me. Sorry to hear about your loss though, because I would have used some colorful language to that guy, that and maybe a crowbar, depending on if I could get to him or not. but personally, I would do all my trading here if it's easy to find parts you're looking for. Better pricing, best quality for the money IMO.

I try not to use the bay for anything. there is alot of guys useing it for RC parts instead of going though hobbie shops and local clubs.. then they wander why the local shops close..

mainly use the bay to see what used stuff is going for, due to the fact if I do sell something I allways get the one guy who says "thats going X amount on e-bay"
