So, I'm curious to know how many people use WASD as their gaming movement keys versus people that don't. I know that there is a strong contigent of people (myself included) that use EDSF in lieu of WASD on their keyboard. What are your reasons for using your chosen movement keys?
The reason I ask is that seemingly every gaming keyboard that is released, more manufacturers are choosing to distinguish the WASD keys with special features. These features include lights, highlighted keys or even special "coatings" that help prevent your fingers from sliding off the keys.
Remember to vote, and give a reason why you choose your particular set of movement keys!

CTRL - crouch
Shift - back
Z - left
X - right
C - reload
ALT - use/flash light (depending on the game)
Space - Jump
Left Mouse - Fire
Right Mouse - Forward
Middle click - alt fire
Wheel up/down - weapon select

I fought WASD for years. I was an arrow guy all the way. Then came Battlefield 2 and I had no choice but to adapt. Now I don't think I could easily go back to the arrows.

Re: Keyboard PWNAGE: WASD vs. EDSF - Poll
Exactly right! I originally used the arrow keys for FPS as well, especially when playing Delta Force: Black Hawk Down. However, one of my team members convinced me to try WASD and guaranteed that it would improve my gameplay (it did). Eventually, I moved to EDSF as it gave me more room for my hand as well as more access to keys/macros.Major_A wrote:I fought WASD for years. I was an arrow guy all the way. I had a easier time leaning my butt off in MoH:AA. Don't think I ever ran around in that game upright. Right Ctrl - lean left Numpad 0 - lean right
Now I look at the stock control and go with them. I've remapped keys before and the in-game tutorial level/training wouldn't know what button I assigned. So I'd have to pause the game several times to see what did what (remember this was aggravating as hell with Oblivion 3).
