Gaming Laptop

Post by ckshin »

Well I'm looking for a gaming laptop because it isn't for sure but I will be traveling across the sea. I have had my eye on the Nvidia 7800 video card. I would like a machine that will be able to do wireless. Any suggestions. I am totally computer illterate so processor speed and stuff like that comes very odd. I know higher is better. Please help. My price is from 2,000 to 3,000. So far I heard that Alienware computers tend to crash easily.

Welcome to the forums. A few questions...

1) Would you like to build your own or buy a pre-built?

2) AMD or Intel Based?

3) Are you okay with a 17" Wide Screen?

1. Pre built cause I would end up getting angry and tossing it on the floor and get depressed that it didn't work.

2. Well I hear Athalon is good for gaming and Intel isn't that great, but I know very little about processor speed. I still look at and think "ugh I'm such a newb.

3. 17 inch works great for me. I like the bigger screeen.

Thanks for having me aboard.

I went this seminar at blizzcon about building your own laptop. THe problem is I need someone to guide me through it. I'm afraid that I would end up having all my stuff explode on me.

I do trust them, but it isn't like I'm near by just in case I make a mistake. I'm one of those person that you have to show first hand then after a couple tries I can do it myself. Thanks though.

One last question... Budget?

I got some notebooks listed for you and I'll let you know my suggestions after I get pricing.

For that type of $$ you can get anything you want. Hell for under 2k you can build a great gamming laptop.

Yeah for that budget you could basically get any of the gaming laptops at ABS.com Check them out. The most expensive one is almost 3Gs, but they have a good selection of other low cost laptops built for gaming. They also have a DIY section if you're looking to build one yourself.
