I just read this from the conclusion of a peltier how to site:
You know, I think I agree with the people who say that a Peltier isn't for cooling your CPU, it's for cooling your beer can. Little platform, pipe from the water cooling rig, block of foam, no problem.

Those of us of a more civilised nature can fashion an immersible version for cooling a gin and tonic. Or just start drinking them from a metal cup.

Consume sufficient beverages, and your computer will probably look plenty fast enough.
I agree :P

Ok here is what ive come up with, im getting a new water block so im going to take the stock Heatsink that came with my peltier, slap a 120mm fan on there instead of the cheapo POS 80mm then im going to attach the cold side ofthe peltier to my old water block.

I figure waterblocks are designed to transfer energy from the proc to the coolant in the form of heat so wouldnt it work similarly well in reverse?

couldnt the surface area on the inside of the water block act as a mini radiator to cool the coolant? with the help of the 45w pelt of course lol

I think itll be similar to this thing:

http://www.frozencpu.com/cas-329.html

only less powerful and not $900.00 lol

but if I could find a heat sink capable of dissapting 300 watts of heat then id use the 237w peltier in a heartbeat but I think id need a piece of copper the size of my head to do that. and the one above only has a 200w peltier im assuming since it says up to 200 watts lol. That and I think it uses a refigerant to keep the hot side of the pelt cool instead of a fan and heatsink like im talking about. Still this is going to be very interesting.

I liked my idea of strapping it to the radiator more :P
But your idea shoud work as well, though im not sure which is better (more effecient).

The alternative if you bought the 237W peltier is to use your water cooling to cool that rather than a huge heatsink! But thats too easy!

Well I got the thing built but my camera is acting up so ill get pics when I can but I can definatley tell you that it looks ghetto I have duct tape and plastic ties all over the thing but the pelt stays nice and cool under air my 120mm fan the only problem is that im only getting a 1 degree temperature drop :( Oh well atleast now I have an LED lit drink cooler!

If I can get a big enough copper plate ill try to cool that and slap it on my rad like DMB2000uk is saying

nice one, how ong did you have to let it run for to get the temperature drop? and was that load or idle?

The pelt reaches its peak temperature after about 25 seconds according to my thermometer. As far as the 1 degree drop in my coolant it happens in about 25-30 seconds, the coolant running thru the waterblock on the pelt isnt in there for very long sicne its pumped thru its great for pulling away heat but not good for absorbing cold lol

Did you apply some thermal paste between the peltier and the water-block, i was also wondering if a copper plate placed between them to absorb more of the cold might work better.
