Drive letter designation problem.

A friend of mine just called and said he installed a new drive in his comp. went from a 120g to a 320g, both WD's. Problem being now his main drive is lettered H instead of C!
Can this be fixed?
I've alrdy had him try to change the letter through disk management and it says you cannot change the system or boot designation letter!
Any Ideas?

I may be wrong (this has come up before) but I think the only option is to re-do the install.

I'll do some digging but I think that your stuck.

He says he can live with it but, if it can be fixed he'd prefer that.
I've did I dont know how many fresh installs and never had that happen,
I wonder why this happens?

unplug all the drives that you dont want as c:/ and install windows that way. when it finishes installing windows plug them back in. unfortunatly that is the only way to get it working.

I do NOT recommend doing this, but if you have to.

I would also say to reinstall Windows. Make sure to delete all partitions using the windows install program, then create a big one, or as many little ones as you want.

I dont recommend that either!
That procedure should only be used if your drive letter has changed!
His letter has not changed, it was a mistake on his part, he did not disconnect his external drive until after starting the XP install.

As of now he's chosen to leave it as is, he doesnt want to reload windows again.
