how can i update BOIS if i cant open BIOS?

does all this sound like a memory problem? - i just bought OCZ Valueram 2x512 PC3200 DDR400 184-pin memory from the egg, possibly faulty?

You'll have to get the BIOS on floppy, then boot to it & follow the prompts.

it doesn't get the floppy going, can i try cd?, those light up

Certainly if the boot order has it first.

When you can get into your BIOS change that around so that it's floppy, CD, HDD1, ect...

You'd more than likely be dealing with a dead board than a CPU from my experience unless you "know" you may have damaged it (bent pins, dropped, ect...).

Give that a try & see if you can find out for sure. If anything else, give them a call on their support # & see what they can do for you.

what if, say, i bent a pin, then straitened it, would it still work the same as long as it is still attached?

Could it be a memory compatibility problem?

Yeah it very well could be a memory issue.. since you have 2 sticks, try 1 at a time in each slot & if it fails, then place the other one in..

You could also try a memory test app.. (Memtest86)
