D975XBX2 - No POST

I wrote on this board that my XBX2 has a problem with fan control. Intel sent me a replacement, but it does not POST - the screen stays black, no HDD activity at all. Only the fans spin at full speed.
I tried:
- BIOS recovery
- Minimal configuration - just CPU and 1 stick RAM
- Removed the battery

The board seems dead. Other than requesting a new replacement, is there anything else I could try?

Have you tried to run it outside the case? There could be something causing a short.
Remove all the parts and put the board on the box it came in, then only add the CPU, one stick of RAM, the GFX card and the keyboard. See if it boots into the BIOS then.

Thanks for the suggestion. I spoke with Intel, they are sending a new replacement.
By the way, they are shipping all replacements next day!

Tried running the board outside of the case, and it is not posting.

Have you tried increasing the memory voltage? Even one DIMM may need more voltage to post.

Well, the board did not go into BIOS at all, the screen was black.
Anyway, I received the second replacement and all is good.

Just out of curiousity, did you do a hard power-off when switching the BIOS to "maintenance mode"?

I noticed certain kinds of hangs (i.e. bad overclock) forced me to unplug power for about 10 seconds. (I waited until the green-LED on the motherboard stopped glowing.) I guess the 'off' switch is just a soft-off, and the power-management circuit isn't reset/cleared until you completely cut power.
