DD is their long term (stable) version. I think they will keep releasing patches and updates until 2009
FF is their more beta version which will only be supported till the end of 2008

*nix has the tradition of being safe, stable and secure......this is how they do it. After Feisty Fawn is out for a year and people have found all the bugs in it, they then "backport" the code into the stable release (in this case Dapper Drake)

If you MUST have stability, go with the Dapper Drake version, but as Dicecca mentioned, there's a new release out at the end of Oct...... but you can update to that later on using "apt-get"

I hope this answered your question?
