8800gt 512mb or 3870 512mb

ok I know Nvidia has better support and more updated drivers. Ati has better pic quality supposedly and AA. I've checked benchmarks and for what I have seen this does seem right.
My ati 3850 256mb took a crap on me from newegg. The brand isn't in stock anymore so I got a refund and figured I'd start up by just going one higher so I don't have to replace the card in the next 6 months. So I'm at a choice between these 2.
From results it seems as if Nvidia is tearing up Ati just because of drivers. How good does the 3870 oc and the 8800gt oc?
I would like to game at 1680 x 1050 if this helps.
I play mainly FPS so a brute power card is needed. I do like other games but, these are the ones that make you on the edge of your seat. I'd LOVE to have a card that can perform on DX10.. But, that doesn't seem like its going to happen yet.
1680 x 1050 2xAA is ideal. but, I know Crysis won't run on that.
